Are you Intolerant?

Doctors who specialise in nutritional medicine believe that the typical Western diet could be contributing to a myriad of health issues caused by food intolerances. If you are suffering from migraines or headaches, congested sinuses, catarrh or wheezing, eczema or other rashes, gut problems like bloating, diarrhoea or constipation, even swollen and painful joints or fatigue, you are likely to be intolerant to something you are eating regularly!

90% of these food intolerances are caused by only 4 foods, gluten (wheat,) dairy, yeast and eggs, the problem with these 4 foods is that they are in just about everything we eat, which is not good at all. There are however, loads of alternatives out there, more now than ever and there’s a reason for that, more and more people are working out that they feel better without some or all of these foods in their diet. And whilst you may not need to completely remove all these foods from your diet, it is certainly worth reducing them, for your health’s sake.

I have already written blogs about the two worse culprits, gluten and dairy, give them a read then pop to the shops and pick up some gluten free bread and a carton of alternative milk and just see if you feel any better after a few days. They may take a bit of getting used to but when you start to feel the benefits you will love it! Be sure to check your food labels, they appear everywhere!

In the East where they eat masses of veg, rice, soy, chilli’s, garlic etc and very little cheese, milk and bread they have far fewer health problems, less obesity, less depression, less cancer, the lot. So maybe we should take a leaf out of their book, ditch the pasta and try Prawn Rice Noodle Salad or Goan Fish Curry, Satay Skewers or Vietnamese (anything goes) Curry, Cauliflower and Green Bean Korma or Vegetable Goulash.

Food intolerances left unchecked will continue to overload our systems and could ultimately cause even greater problems such as alzheimers disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, kidney disease and osteoarthritis, even heart disease and diabetes. Sounds serious doesn’t it? Well it is!
