Sleep is sooo important. If you eat badly it can m Sleep is sooo important. If you eat badly it can make you sleep badly, and if you sleep badly you are much more likely to eat badly, that's a vicious cycle if ever I saw one. Exercising in the morning has been shown to improve sleep, as does getting some sunlight during the day - preferably in the morning. Not eating too late, not drinking caffeine too late in the day, and ditching your phone and other gadgets an hour before bed have all been said before, but do you follow them through? I know I struggle with the last one! However, my most important takeaway is setting a bedtime alarm clock. If you know how many hours of sleep you need then set an alarm to go to bed so you can wake up naturally. I nearly always awake before my alarm if I do this. Don't forget an alarm, is exactly that, it alarms you - that is no way to start your day! We often feel we have to make lots of big changes We often feel we have to make lots of big changes in one go in order to get healthier, but small changes over a period of time are far more sustainable and have the best effect in the long run. Try starting with a healthier breakfast – like porridge with fresh fruit and nuts. Increase movement and exercise by walking more – a 15-minute walk after a meal helps to aid digestion. Why not swap coffee or tea for a glass of water – hydration is so important for all our bodily functions and caffeinated drinks are understood to be dehydrating. Trade an unhealthy snack for a piece of fruit and a handful of nuts – the protein from the nuts will help satiate you far more than a chocolate bar will.
