Turmeric the Wonder Spice

In my last blog I wrote about the virtues of cinnamon, how amazing it is and how to incorporate it into your daily diet. This time the spotlight is on Turmeric, it is just as amazing as cinnamon but for many different reasons.

Turmeric contains a potent yellow pigment called curcumin, which is one of the most powerful antioxidants around, it happily scavenges damaging free radicals and is particularly good for the liver’s complex detoxification process. It is anti carcinogenic and is understood to hinder cancer growth and spread.

Alongside all of that, Turmeric is renowned for it’s fantastic anti-inflammatory properties and is far better for you than any medicine claiming to do the same as it is completely natural and has no side effects. I am all for replacing medicine with something natural, and turmeric is a perfect example of this.

It is so beneficial that the pharmaceutical industry has tried their utmost to patent it but as it is a natural product they are of course not permitted. There is no money in a product they can’t patent so it is largely ignored even though they know how utterly amazing it is. It is criminal how they work.

Anyone suffering from any auto immune diseases, cancer or even obesity would be recommended to include turmeric into their diet as often as possible or of course get a good quality supplement to take.

I often add turmeric to my morning smoothies, fresh if I can get it, powdered if not. It is great in a soup, try a bowl of my Love Life Lentil Soup or Squash, Ginger & Turmeric, delicious! A Korma Curry gets its gorgeous colour from turmeric so is a great one to include in your weekly meal plan as is Goan Fish Curry. A friend of mine told me she sprinkles turmeric and cinnamon on toast, which is actually surprisingly very pleasant. Thanks for the tip Charlie!

I reckon it’s time to spice up your life!
